About Between

Between was born from a deep interest in the spaces we move through as human beings — the spaces between who we have been and who we are becoming, between certainty and uncertainty, between overwhelm and awareness, between disconnection and contact..

To me these moment, between, contain a world of possibility.

If we can stay present to what is emerging in us when we are in the presence of another we can come to understand that growth, healing, meaning, and change emerge from spaces we often tempted to rush past.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space.

In that space is our power to choose our response.

In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Victor Frankl

The Space Between

Part of the inspiration for the name comes from this line often attributed to Viktor Frankl that:

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

This understanding resonates deeply with both Gestalt psychotherapy and somatic coaching - the belief that awareness creates the possibility of new choices.

Not by becoming someone else, but by becoming more conscious of how we are living, relating, protecting, adapting, longing, and responding right now.

Between also reflects the relational philosophy of Martin Buber, who wrote of the transformative potential that exists within real contact - within the living space between you and I.

The Meaning of Between

There are moments in life when something familiar no longer fits, yet what comes next has not fully arrived.

These in-between spaces can feel disorienting, lonely, uncertain, or deeply alive. They may emerge through grief, burnout, relationship change, identity shifts, loss, illness, transition, or the quiet recognition that the life you have been living no longer feels fully your own.

Between was created as a space where these experiences do not need to be hurried away or solved.

Between is the space where there is room to pause.
To notice.
To feel.
To make contact with what is true, right now.

A Relational Philosophy

My work is grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy, embodiment, and relational practice.

As I listen to what you are sharing I pay attention to and allow myself to be impacted by what I am noticing with you. Our relationship itself is an important part of our work, becoming a space where greater awareness, self-support, and authentic expression become possible. I work collaboratively with you to notice with curiosity:

  • somatic resonances

  • emotional responses

  • patterns of relating

  • nervous system experience

  • what is spoken and what remains unsaid

  • how contact unfolds moment by moment

I understand healing not as a move towards perfection, but rather a journey towards deepening awareness and acceptance of experience here and now. In time, this orientation supports a new way of being in relationship with our loved ones and with the world around us.

Between is ultimately an invitation:

to slow down enough to hear yourself again.

To make space for what has been overlooked, silenced, or carried alone.

To explore what becomes possible when there is greater awareness, connection, and presence within your life and relationships.

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning.
